Forster Tuncurry in developers’ crosshairs.

A proposed North Tuncurry Landcom development has been running alongside the much-publicised golf course land impositions at Melbourne’s Oakleigh and Sydney’s Moore Park, albeit without anywhere near the same public discourse outside the mid-NSW township itself.

If you have visited the Tuncurry course previously –  including participants at the 2023 NSW Women’s Open – you can’t not have been captivated by the natural beauty of a coastal bushland setting where the sound of waves crashing nearby are the prevailing backdrop to your round. The short flyover clip on the club’s own website illustrates this perfectly.

Alarming then to hear of the proposal that will effectively subsume close to half of the golf course, in pursuit of the construction of several thousand homes and supporting infrastructure.

Whilst conversations with the NSW Government continue, this story was written in February 2024 with the article appearing in Golf Australia Magazine’s April edition – see here.
